Baroka FC chairman Khurishi Mphahlele has reached an agreement with Orlando Pirates to retain on-loan duo Siphamandla Sangweni and Jacky Motshegwa for next season.
Both striker Sangweni and midfielder Motshegwa spent last season on loan with Baroka as they won promotion from the National First Division.
With his first-team chances at Pirates zero, Motshegwa had also been thinking about making a move back to Bloemfontein Celtic, where he has previously played on loan, but Mphahlele has assured his team’s supporters that Baroka will keep the player again next season.
Motshegwa has previously stated that he would be happy to stay with Baroka for their first season in the Absa Premiership.
“I spoke to the chairman of Orlando Pirates and he allowed us to keep them,”, “We are keeping both [Pirates] players next season.”
Mphahlele also revealed that he is keeping his technical sponsor Umbro as well as Clover and will announce two more sponsors during Baroka FC’s celebration party in Polokwane tomorrow.
“We have already slaughtered six cows. It’s all about our celebration,” he adds.
Midfielder Jacky Motshegwa says he ready to return to Orlando Pirates provided he is in contention for game-time at Mayfair.
Motshegwa helped Baroka FC gain promotion to the PSL last season during a loan spell in Limpopo.
The ex-Bloemfontein Celtic man will soon meet with Bucs officials to discuss his future.
“I am still left with a year on my contract with Pirates. I will be meeting with the club soon to discuss my future,” Motshegwa
“I am ready to stay with Pirates but provided I get game-time. If that’s not possible, I am ready to continue with my stay with Baroka next season.”
