Kaizer Chiefs say they are not worried with their rivals making big moves in the transfer market.
Orlando Pirates confirmed the signings of Bernard Morrison, Abbubaker Mobara and Riyaad Norodien on Tuesday, while Mamelodi Sundowns are believed to be getting closer to landing Bidvest Wits attacker Sibusiso Vilakazi.
Chiefs have been relatively quiet since announcing an exodus of 20 players last month. However, Amakhosi communications manager Vina Maphosa says they are not a new club and have their own way of doing things. “No we are not worried. I cannot talk about other teams. You will hear our plans at the right time. Nothing has changed. Things will happen the same way they have been happening every year,” he tells KickOff.com.
Chiefs have made one signing so far, bringing in left-back Sibusiso Khumalo
in a swap deal that saw Keegan Ritchie join SuperSport United.
The Glamour Boys have been linked with several players, amongst them Anele Ngcongca and Cosafa Cup top goalscorer Felix Badenhorst.
Orlando Pirates have announced an agreement with Ajax Cape Town for star duo Riyaad Norodien and Abbubaker Mobara, while also confirming the capture of Ghanaian forward Bernard Morrison.
“Orlando Pirates Football Club is pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached with Ajax Cape Town for the services of Abbubaker Mobara and Riyaad Norodien,” read a statement on the club’s official website.
Club chairman Irvin Khoza was delighted with the club’s capture of the Ajax duo.
“I am pleased to announce the successful negotiations between ourselves and Ajax Cape Town over the services of Mobara and Norodien,” he is quoted as saying on the club’s official webiste.

“We have been given the go-ahead to make contact with both players and finalise personal terms. Obviously, with someone like Mobara currently in Namibia with the South African national team, we will only be able to finalise with him and his representatives when he returns from international duty. However, we will be finalising soon with Norodien.”
Khoza then also confirmed Morrison’s arrival at Mayfair, as revealed on Sunday by KickOff.com – a story we broke and followed through since 22 April.
“An agreement has been reached and signed after a revised offer was sent to AS Vita,” he said. “We are happy with this acquisition and trust that Morrison will have a successful stay at the club.”
He also revealed that a number of players will be released from the Soweto giants.
“The club will be making an announcement next week regarding the players who will be released,” confirmed Khoza.
New coach Muhsin Ertugral will arrive at the end of the week to finalise matters with the club, while the rest of his technical team and the players are set to return on 4 July.
Kaizer Chiefs have announced the signing of Sibusiso Khumalo from SuperSport United and confirmed an exodus of players leaving the club.
