khumaloSibusiso Khumalo says he moved to Kaizer Chiefs from SuperSport United because he needed a challenge.

Khumalo was unveiled as a Chiefs player at a press conference on Monday morning, after the left-back was signed to Chiefs in a swap deal also involving Keegan Ritchie.

The former United man said his move to the Soweto giants was not financially motivated, as he was looking for a challenge and a chance to compete.

“I think for me it was more about competing against the best rather than money, I felt I was too comfortable at United,” said the defender.

“I wanted to make a big move, compete and get a new challenge, because fighting for a place with Masilela is not going to be easy.”

“He played in Europe and to compete with him is something I’m looking forward to.”

Kaizer Chiefs’ new left-back, Sibusiso Khumalo, believes that he can grow as a player while undertaking a new challenge at the Soweto giants.

The former SuperSport United left back was unveiled on Monday as one of the new Kaizer Chiefs players at Naturena and explained his decision to join the club from SuperSport United in a swap deal for Keagan Ritchie.

“It’s a new challenge,” he told the Siya crew. “It won’t be easy moving into Chiefs as they have good players that I have to compete with.”

The Stars of Africa academy graduate went on to say that the competition for a starting role will help him grow as a player.

“I have been in such situation before and it helps me grow as a player and I am ready for that challenge,” the Bafana Bafana defender added.

Khumalo joins another seven new players, including Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Keagan Buchanan, who were announced as the men tasked with revitalising Steve Komphela’s squad.

Now, with the 2016/17 Absa Premiership campaign on the horizon, the Amakhosi have revealed a whole host of new faces that they are hoping will help try and turnaround their misfortunes from the 2015/16 season.

Chiefs finished fifth in Komphela’s first year in charge, failing to win a single piece of silverware, though they will be keen to put that all behind them with the help of their new stars.
