No new signings have ever been voted into the starting line-up, and have only made their way onto the pitch as substitutions.

Amakhosi’s head coach Steve Komphela unveiled eight new signings on Monday that are expected to strengthen the side at both ends of the pitch.

The Champion Coaches’ options include Zimbabwean striker Edmore Chirambadare, who arrived from Chicken Inn FC.

He has been joined by club-mate Michelle Katsvairo, who is an attacking midfielder known for his pace and the ability to score spectacular goals.

Zambia forward Lewis Macha, who has been playing in Mozambique at Ferroviário de Maputo, has also been signed to bolster the frontline.

Adding yet more firepower to the striker pool is the promotion of teenage forward Emmanuel Letlotlo, who was top-scorer in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge last season. Leltlotlo netted nine times for Chiefs in the reserve league, leading to him being tipped as a future Premier Soccer League star.

Midfielder Keagan Buchanan has also been signed from Bloemfontein Celtic, along with former-SuperSport United hardman Enocent Mkhabela. Those two add skill and steel to the middle of the park.

The defence has been strengthened by the arrival of Mamelodi Sundowns captain Ramahlwe Mphahlele, in what is a major signing for Chiefs to have lured away the league winner from Chloorkop.

He will likely slot in at right-back, while on the other side of the defence is the speedy wing-back Sibusiso Khumalo, who adds attacking threat from the back-four.
