Chippa United are ready to give midfielder Joseph Molangoane to Kaizer Chiefs provided they pay a transfer fee, or provided the player secures his release through the PSL DRC.
Molangoane is still contracted to the Chilli Boys according to club boss Chippa Mpengesi, however the former Orlando Pirates midfielder is disputing that contract and taking the matter to the PSL’s Dispute Resolution Chamber.
Mpengesi confirms the dispute between the club and the player and the approach from Amakhosi.
“Chiefs did approach us to find out about the contractual status of the player. He is still contracted to us and anybody who wants him must be prepared to pay,” says Mpengesi.
“We understand the player has taken the matter to the DRC,” he adds.
Molangoane, who was one of Chippa’s outstanding performers last season, has reportedly already agreed to join the Glamour Boys.
He would be the second former Pirates player to move from Chippa to Chiefs in two seasons should he get a move, following William Twala.
Molangoane linked with Chiefs move
Cape Town – Chippa United playmaker Joseph Molangoane is reportedly on the verge of a move to Kaizer Chiefs.
The former Orlando Pirates midfielder had a number of dazzling performances for the Chilli boys in the recent season, helping the club to a sixth-place finish in the Premiership.
Molangoane has flourished under Chippa coach Dan Malesela, who has instilled his ultra-attacking philosophy into the team.
Chippa communications officer Luthando Zibeko has neither confirmed nor denied that Molangoane was leaving.
“Well, the club will release a statement about the player in due time regarding his future with the club.
“However, as things stand, he is still contracted to the club until June 2016. He still belongs to the club. That’s all I can say at the moment.”
Molangoane, who was voted the best player against his former side Orlando Pirates last week, is reportedly on the verge of joining Amakhosi
On Saturday, media reports suggested that Molangoane had signed a pre-contract with Chiefs and was therefore kicked out of the camp.
As a result, the 28-year-old winger missed the Chilli Boys’ 2-0 victory over Amakhosi at the FNB Stadium.
Goal contacted Chilli Boys’ head of marketing and communications Luthando Zibeko, who said that the club will release an official statement on Molangoane’s future in the near future.
“Well, the club will release a statement about the player in due time regarding his future with the club,” Zibeko told Goal.
“However, as things stand, he is still contracted to the club until June 2016. He still belongs to the club. That’s all I can say at the moment,” he concluded.
Molangoane enjoyed his football with the Chilli Boys, netting four goals in 17 Absa Premiership starts this season.
