Three men set alight for ‘stealing laptop’

In a case of fiery vigilantism, the third victim managed to escape, and is being kept in custody for his own protection.

Two men are in a critical condition after they were set alight for allegedly stealing a laptop in in Maraiskamp, Western Cape.
Conville Police spokesperson Captain Khunjula Sam said an identified man and his friends poured petrol on three men suspected of the robbery and set them alight, the George Herald reported.
The victims were rushed to George Hospital.
“The third victim managed to escape and police are keeping him in custody for his protection,” said Sam. “Police have opened a case of attempted murder and they are looking for the suspects who fled the scene. The one suspect’s name is ‘Boetie’,” he added.
