The former Amakhosi attacking midfielder said that it’s sad that Chiefs are on such a bad losing streak and that Komphela is yet to bring in players of his choice
Gert Schalkwyk has said that it is unacceptable for a team of Kaizer Chiefs stature to go through so many defeats and that there are many players at the club that should be released.
“For me it is really sad that Chiefs have gone through defeat after defeat in their last four matches,” Schalkwyk told Goal.
“It is unacceptable for a big team as that.
“I think there are lot of players that are getting salaries for nothing at Chiefs and should be released at the end of the season so that Steve brings players of his choice.”
He mentions that Chiefs need to sign Bidvest Wits star Sibusiso Vilakazi as he would be a good investment for the Soweto Giants.
“I have said it for a long time that Chiefs need to sign Vilakazi because he would be a good investment for the club.
“He has proved his quality and Chiefs is not like small clubs where you use anything that is available.
“For me Steve is not to blame for the club’s struggles this season because he is yet to bring players of his choice and has been using players that were not signed by him.
“There are lot of players like Levy Mokgothu, Bongani Ndulula and Keagan Ritchie that are not contributing to the team and are just there to make the numbers,” he concluded.
