Bobby Motaung says he is ‘loving’ the current Kaizer Chiefs team
Amakhosi’s football manager‚ popularly nicknamed “Bobsteak“‚ believes coach Steve Komphela has been given something to work with as Chiefs prepare to parade a new-look combination in the 2016-17 season after going trophyless in 2015-16.
Chiefs on Wednesday added two more youngsters – striker Ryan Moon and centreback Siyabonga Ngezana – to their squad having already promoted striker Emmanuel Letloko in the current off-season.
Motaung said that‚ along with new signings such as right-back Ramahlwe Mphahlele from Mamelodi Sundowns‚ and forwards Edmore Chirambadare and Mitchell Katsvairo from Zimbabwe’s Chicken Inn‚ the additions have brought a new energy to Chiefs.
“There’s more hunger. The team spirit is good. The energy is positive‚” Motaung said on Wednesday.
“I’m loving this team. I’m loving it. Since the pre-season we’ve been together with these boys and the energy is wonderful.
“What we need is just to get on the field there and enjoy. It’s going to be exciting this season.”
Left-back Sibusiso Khumalo and midfielder Enocent Mkhabela (both from SuperSport United‚ playmaker Keagan Buchanan (Bloemfontein Celtic) and Zambian striker Lewis Macha were among signings announced by Chiefs on June 27.
The club began the off-season by announcing 20 players released‚ put on transfer‚ or whose contracts would not be renewed as Amakhosi have gone on a rebuilding drive from the squad that could only manage fifth place last season.
