Kaizer Chiefs has granted Willard Katsande too much power and coach Steve Komphela have supported it

Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has explained the leadership structure at the club which has seen Willard Katsande take on a vice-captain role at Naturena.

Siphiwe Tshabalala was handed the armband last season and will continue to share the duties with goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune.

Katsande, who skippers Zimbabwe, is next in line in seniority, along with new signing Ramahlwe Mphahlele and experienced pair Tsepo Masilela and Bernard Parker.

“‘Shabba’ (Tshabalala) is club captain,” says Komphela.

“Two, Itu is team captain. Three we have got Tsepo, Katsande, Parker and Ramahlwe Mphahlele as vice-captains at Chiefs,” adds Komphela, who was impressed with Lewis Macha and Sibusiso Khumalo’s debuts in the Carling Black Label Champion Cup win over Orlando Pirates this past weekend.
