Supersport United confirm
Supersport United have confirmed the signing of former Kaizer Chiefs defender Tefu Mashamaite from Swedish side HK Hacken on a two-year deal.
Club CEO Stan Matthews confirmed the arrival of the former PSL player of the 2014/15 season on Tuesday afternoon.
“We are glad to announce that Tefu Mashamaite has joined Super Sport United on a two-year deal‚” Matthews said.
Asked how much SuperSport paid to secure the services of Mashamaite‚ the club declined to confirm the figures.
“We did pay something but it is between us and his former club. We won’t confirm how much we paid the club“.
Mashamaite will be reunited with the coach he won league and cup doubles under at Chiefs in 2012-13 and 2014-15‚ Stuart Baxter‚ who is now coach of SuperSport.
Matthews says the plan was to bring in Tefu in the January transfer window but the player asked the club to accelerate the move.
He also joins several other former Amakhosi players to have migrated north up the N1 from Naturena to Pretoria – midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane‚ Keegan Ritchie‚ Reeyad Pieterse‚ Kingston Nkhatha and Morgan Gould.
Mashamaite played 11 league matches for Hacken in a season plagued by injury‚ scoring two goals.
He won a Swedish cup [Svenska Kupen] medal having played every game to the semifinals‚ where he became injured and missed the final.
