Gabuza Will Cost Shakes his Job

Gabuza  Tonight is a big night for the country. South Africa is set to face Egypt at the Orlando Stadium. The match is technically called the Nelson Mandela Challenge, but many are calling it a friendly. However, this game carries a lot more weight than most would think – it could be coach Shakes Mashaba’s last night in charge of the boys.

A massive point of contention with Shakes has been his selections. Many are puzzled as to why he constantly includes players who do not play regularly at club level. The biggest talking point is the concrete inclusion of Thamsanqa Gabuza, who has not featured in the Pirates first team for some time now,

“Mashaba, did he watch PSL league? Since when Gabuza was promoted to his position of being ball boy at Orlando Pirates?” – mderonisation

“Gabuza is Mashaba’s son so don’t be surprised, gentlemen.” – kabelo101

“Is there really no better striker than that of Gabuza?” – neos37

“Gabuza’s got a strong muti.” – Castro – Billiat – Dolly

“Why is Gabuza in the line-up? You don’t learn Shakes, tonight that cow will cost you your job. Ask Tinkler.” – ianwalepirates

This backlash comes after Gabuza’s missed penalty kick in the dreary 1-1 draw with Mauritania last weekend. Other shock inclusions include Tokelo Rantie, who has not played first team club football in months.

“Nor can I understand why Rantie has been called up, because the guy hasn’t kicked a ball in a competitive match for months and not so long ago he signed for a new club… Mashaba and co. must fall.” – Figo_16601

More worrying is the fact that one or two prominent overseas-based players have refused to play for Bafana Bafana as long as Shakes is the coach. A poor result tonight will surely spell trouble for Mashaba. Nonetheless, we wish the boys well and we forever stand behind them as they carry the flag for us.
