Kaizer Chiefs’ midfielder Enocent Mkhabela could be set for a loan move come the January transfer window.
The Amakhosi acquired the 27-year-old’s services on a free during the off-season. However, the player has not yet made a competitive appearance under the mentorship of Steve Komphela.
Indications are that the Glamour Boys will not be including Mkhabela in the club’s plans in the current season, which suggests that the Amakhosi will look to send the player out on-loan elsewhere in the January transfer window, in order to acquire the needed game-time – according to Siya sources.
“The team feels that he needs to be playing more regularly and the only way to do that is for him to be loaned out. It’s hard to come in and replace the existing midfielders… the attacking ones and defensive ones… and with Keagan Buchanan coming back, there will be even more competition.
“It will be difficult for Mkhabela to play this season and that’s why they want to loan him out in January and see whether Willard Katsande will leave for France next season or not,” the source revealed.
Chiefs’ Corporate Communications Manager, Alpheus Vina Maphosa, was not available for comment after the Siya crew put through a call and sent a message.
