Pitso Mosimane, Khama Billiat, Tiyani Mabunda upbeat for CAF Champions League final with Zamalek
Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane and midfielders Khama Billiat and Tiyani Mabunda were in positive spirits ahead of their flight to Egypt for the CAF Champions League decider.
Sundowns will battle Zamalek for honours at 20h30 in Alexandria on Sunday, having won the first leg of the final 3-0 in Atteridgeville.
Besides continental glory, the victor will also represent Africa at the FIFA Club World Cup, taking place in Tokyo, Japan from December 8-18.
“We will go their looking for a few goals. It’s possible, we have done it before,” Mosimane is quoted as saying by Downs.
“We are not looking at their supporters or things we can’t control. We are going there to play and enjoy the final,” said star playmaker Billiat.
The PSL Footballer of the Season added: “We have to first do the job, then we can think of the FIFA Club World Cup.”
Mabunda said: “We have several players with a lot of experience, Hlompho (Kekana), Denis (Onyango) etc. They are keeping us all grounded.”
The 2001 finalists are seeking to emulate the 1995 heroics of Orlando Pirates – the only South African club to win the showpiece.
