Zamalek wants Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane to be their coach

Cape Town – Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane feels humbled by the interest Egyptian giants Zamalek have shown in him, after guiding his side to the CAF Champions League title.

The Brazilians overcame the White Knights 3-1 in the final over two legs to lift the prestigious continental trophy.

Mosimane has proven his credentials as one of the best coaches in Africa after winning the Premiership and Telkom Knockout last season.

“It’s true that Zamalek made the approach, but I was absolutely flattered. I was honest with them – telling them I have a job at Sundowns for now,” Mosimane told the Sowetan.

“I told them it won’t be easy for me to just up and leave. They told me they wanted someone who understands their team. They could hear in media interviews that I know them in and out. I played them four times.

“I know their most influential players, their strengths and weaknesses. But I’m emotionally attached to Sundowns. It took me some time to build this team, and I’m still trying to strengthen it to get to the level of TP Mazembe, Zamalek and Al-Ahly.”
