Key Chiefs Duo Could Miss Baxter Reunion
Kaizer Chiefs duo, Willard Katsande and Lorenzo Gordinho, will have to tread carefully against Mamelodi Sundowns this weekend as they face suspension.
The Amakhosi saw their eight-game unbeaten run come to an end earlier this month in the Telkom Knockout against Free State Stars, but will be keen to get back to winning ways when the Absa Premiership returns this coming weekend.
Chiefs travel to Tshwane to take on the reigning champions at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday afternoon, and will do so with both Katsande and Gordinho sitting on three yellow cards for the campaign so far.
The pair are two of only four players – alongside Itumeleng Khune and Hendrick Ekstein – who have started every Chiefs game so far in the Absa Premiership, but a booking for either of them would see them miss the following game against Stuart Baxter’s SuperSport United next week.
Given Baxter’s history at Chiefs, both players will be keen to make sure they’re available to face their former mentor at FNB Stadium, although will no doubt be fully focused on getting a result against Masandawana as their first priority.
