Mamelodi Sundowns could look to recall Thela Ngobeni from his loan spell with Free State Stars as early as January.
The Siya crew previously revealed that the 27-year-old, who is on a season-long loan with Ea Lla Koto, will remain with the team until the end of the current 2016/17 season and thereafter return to the Brazilians.
However, a Siya source has revealed that the goal-minder has a clause in his contract that will allow Masandawana the option to recall him in the upcoming January transfer window, should they choose to.
The club currently has Denis Onyango, Kennedy Mweene and Wayne Sandilands on their books. However, with Sandilands being in the final months of his contract and with no extension set in place as yet, indications are that Ngobeni could be seen as a replacement for the 33-year-old.
Indications are that Sandilands will see out his contract with Sundowns, but if the club decide to sell the player and cash in on a nominal fee in the upcoming transfer window, the CAF Champions could look to recall Ngobeni in January, adding the goal-minder to their first-team set-up for the rest of the 2016/17 campaign.
As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, Ngobeni is wanted by Orlando Pirates, however the goalkeeper’s long-term future lies in the hands of the Chloorkop-based club and it remains to be seen what will become of his immediate future in the coming weeks.
