Billiat Departure Definitely Going To Happen, But

Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, Eric Ramasike, has said that Khama Billiat’s departure from the Brazilians is inevitable, but that Pitso Mosimane will be able to keep the team’s form up nonetheless.

In the 2015/16 season, Billiat was Sundowns’ standout player, with the team winning the Telkom Knockout, the Absa Premiership and the CAF Champions League. However, with Keagan Dolly signing for French club Montpellier in the January transfer window, Billiat has also been linked with a move abroad, as reported in Soccer Laduma issue number 1008.

However, even though he believes a move for the Zimbabwean is inevitable, Ramasike has said that it won’t have the negative impact on Sundowns as many would expect, with other players in the squad capable of stepping in for the former Ajax Cape Town attacker.

“It (Billiat’s departure) is going to happen, but it won’t be so bad, because Sundowns, as we know, is not a one-man team,” he explained. “If you look at the last two or three gabilmes of the league (before the break) and in the (CAF) Champions League, he was injured and the other players did well for us.”

The 45-year-old did admit that finding players of the same calibre of Billiat and the recently departed Dolly will be a tall order though.

“To replace the calibre of Dolly is not easy, to be honest,” he continued. “Even if Billiat leaves the team, it’s not going to be easy to replace him. Even if they get other players, they won’t get the same players in the bracket of Billiat and Dolly, to be honest.”
