Mamelodi Sundowns’ Khama Billiat is fine and is expected to go and watch his teammates in action at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium tonight, despite the fact that he was robbed at gunpoint this morning.

Local media reports indicate that the reigning PSL Footballer of the Season had an AK-47 rifle pointed at him as thugs robbed him of his wrist watch and a wallet in a shop at a petrol station near where he is staying.

According to reports, the ordeal took place in the early hours of Tuesday at a garage in Kyalami, north of Johannesburg. The Downs star was apparently at the shop to replenish his prepaid electricity card when he was caught in the shameless robbery.

It is alleged that six gunmen entered the shop and pointed rifles at Billiat and another three shoppers, and took the footballer’s wrist watch and wallet in the process.

The gunmen allegedly also bombed the ATM inside the shop while Billiat and the other shoppers were lying on the floor. Following the reports, the Siya crew contacted Sundowns’ media co-ordinator Thulani Thuswa, who confirmed that the talented Zimbabwean is fine.

“I haven’t seen the boy yet, but I did speak to him. He is okay. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time. But he is okay. He is fine,” Thuswa told the Siya crew.
