Chiefs Star Suspended, Double Blow For Komphela
Kaizer Chiefs need to win tomorrow night if they are to keep their realistic title hopes alive but could be short of two of their most crucial first team players.
Itumeleng Khune picked up an injury during the penalty shootout defeat against SuperSport United on Saturday evening as the Amakhosi crashed out of the Nedbank Cup and is now a doubt going into this week’s game against table-toppers, Cape Town City.
Steve Komphela revealed after the encounter that the shot-stopper has suffered a suspected bone bruise on his side following an awkward landing, and he admitted that they haven’t got much time to get him right again.
Meanwhile, Lorenzo Gordinho has handed his eighth yellow card of the season against Matsatsantsa and will now be forced to miss just his third game of the campaign through suspension.
The 22-year-old has had a fantastic season at the heart of the Glamour Boys’ defence and they conceded three goals in the two league matches that he has missed, drawing both.
Daniel Cardoso, who deputised on the previous two occasions, is expected to fill the place vacated by Gordinho when they face City tomorrow night.
