Kaizer Chiefs have been engaging with Steven Pienaar and Daylon Claasen’s representatives about possible moves to Naturena ahead of next season.
The Siya crew recently reported that both players had been brought up in discussions as the Amakhosi management decide on their targets for the 2017/18 season, with Steve Komphela eager to make sure that they don’t go three seasons in a row without silverware.
Pienaar, who is currently contracted to Sunderland and 1860 Munich’s Claasen will both be free agents as of July 1st and the fact that neither will require a transfer fee could make them perfect targets for the Glamour Boys.
The crew tracked down Lance Davids, of On Target – the agency that represents the duo, for comment on the matter, and he confirmed that he had had conversations with Komphela about the two players.
Davids said in today’s issue of Soccer Laduma, “Look, both Steven and Daylon are considering their options right now, as I’m sure you can understand there is plenty of interest surrounding the two of them.
“We’re looking for the best option for them as individuals, and ultimately it will be the players’ decision where they end up.
“I have spoken to Steve Komphela at Kaizer Chiefs and it is one of the options we’re considering.”
Pienaar, 35, and Claasen, 27, could both be looking to return to the Absa Premiership this season after lengthy stints in Europe, however, Chiefs are unlikely to be the only clubs keeping tabs on the pair and will have to move fast if they want to secure their signatures.
