The Siya crew has been reliably informed that Steven Pienaar will make a decision on his future within the next 48 hours, with Siya sources in the know indicating that Bidvest Wits are currently leading the race to sign the former Bafana Bafana captain.
The 35-year-old has been heavily linked with a return to Mzansi’s top flight following the expiration of his contract with English-outfit, Sunderland.
Pienaar has previously been linked with the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and Cape Town City, however, indications are that the player has been in no rush to make a decision on his immediate future. This is due to the fact that he is a free agent and will not be bound by the transfer window which closes shut on August 31.
However, the Siya crew has been informed by sources in Gauteng that Wits are currently leading the race to land the player’s signature and should all talks and negotiations go well, the club is expected to make an official announcement about Pienaar in the coming days.
The Students recently acquired the signing of former 1860 Munich player, Daylon Claasen, who also made his return to the Premier Soccer League following almost a decade of plying his trade in Europe.
