Orlando Pirates are believed to be interested in trying to secure the services of a Mamelodi Sundowns utility player.
It was previously revealed on Soccer Laduma, in June this year, that Asavela Mbekile could be facing uncertainty with regards to his future at the Chloorkop-based club.
The former Moroka Swallows utility player has struggled for game-time with Masandawana in the 2016/17 season, with indications that the 30-year-old might be deemed surplus to requirements.
As previously reported by the Siya crew, Bloemfontein Celtic are believed to be interested in the player, however Soccer Laduma has since been informed by a reliable source that the Soweto giants are also keen on adding the player to their roster for the new 2017/18 campaign.
Mbekile, who can play at both right-back and defensive midfield, is currently still contracted to the Chloorkop-based club and should Pirates look to approach Masandawana for the player’s services, Bucs will need to table an offer to the Brazilians.
However, unconfirmed reports have revealed that the player has just 12 months left on his contract with Sundowns and if the club want to cash in on the player, Sundowns will need to sell Mbekile in the current transfer window.
Mbekile is registered for the current CAF Champions League campaign and following the departure of both Wayne Sandilands and Teko Modise, Masandawana could be reluctant to lose yet another player in the competition.
However, with a month and half left before the transfer window closes shut, it remains to be seen whether the player will still be donning the Ka Bo yellow colours in the new 2017/18 season.
