The South African Football Players Union has intervened on the reported case of Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma’s salary.
SAFPU sent a copy of Bruce Bvuma’s contract to Soccer Laduma to prove that it was only signed this year. However, Soccer Laduma will not be publishing the contract out of respect to the club and player.
SAFPU say that Chiefs made out that the 22-year-old was on a junior contract that came into place when he joined in 2013/14, and refuted those claims as they continue their fight for a minimum wage in the PSL.
Here are some supporters’ reaction to Bvuma’s contract issue:
“A so-called big team is paying players peanuts, that’s bad, poor Bvuma.” – Dj Locks
“I wonder how much Chirambadare is earning at Chiefs? I think he’s getting R2 000.” – radzuma
“Sometimes unions can destroy someone’s future. I’m not saying Chiefs are right but if they are so dedicated to protecting players, why do that via media instead of dealing with Chiefs directly. What’s bothering me now is the future of that boy at Chiefs.” – firstname.lastname@example.org
“How did Dj Cleo allowed this to happen ukuthi iplayer lisayinele amapeanuts?” – khosiological
“I must commend SAFPU for a job well done being the voice of the voiceless, this exploitation of players must come to an end. I wonder how many other players are lining up to come forward. How on earth do you expect someone to earn R5k and still expect them to give 100% on the field?” – chiefs is useless
“On a second thought, I salute Bobby, all those Chiefs players must get R5k each, they are useless.” – chiefs is useless
