Kaizer Chiefs head coach, Steve Komphela, is in one of the hottest seats in Mzansi football and the pressure on the Amakhosi mentor is mounting rapidly.
Chiefs succumbed to their second loss of the 2017/18 PSL campaign last night at the FNB Stadium in Soweto, and although the season has just commenced, a faction of the Chiefs faithful want a change on the bench.
Chiefs were eliminated from the MTN8 in the opening round of the 2017 edition at the hands of SuperSport United and lost night were again defeated by Matsatsantsa a Pitori, losing 2-1 in the ABSA Premiership.
Komphela has secured one point so far, in Chiefs’ opening league fixture of the season, in the 1-1 draw with Bloemfontein Celtic.
However, some of the Chiefs fans have questioned the team’s results under the mentorship of Komphela and a faction of irate fans voiced their frustration last night. A faction of the Amakhosi fans were calling for the coach’s exit, with chants of “Steve must go” echoing within The Calabash.
Missiles were launched from the stands towards Komphela as the group of irate fans’ voice grew louder.
Despite the fans’ protest, Komphela stood resolute and defended his tactical decisions in the 2-1 loss. The Siya crew will investigate the club’s dealings in the coming days and assess if any changes will be implemented.
