Brickz to learn fate as rape sentencing procedures resume

JOHANNESBURG – Sentencing in the rape case against Kwaito star Sipho Ndlovu, known as Brickz, is expected to begin at the Roodepoort magistrate’s court on Tuesday.

Ndlovu was convicted of a 2013 rape of a 17-year-old relative in July.

It has emerged that the woman — who is now 22 — tried to commit suicide.

The defence team says Ndlovu deserves a lenient sentence, while the State wants a lengthy sentence for what it calls a heinous crime.

It says the sentence should send a message to other would-be rapists.

JOHANNESBURG – Kwaito star Sipho “Brickz” Ndlovu will be sentenced in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on October 17 for raping a 16-year-old.

The sentencing was postponed after arguments in mitigation by the prosecution and defence on Thursday.

The “Sweetie my baby” hitmaker was found guilty in July of raping the teen at his home in Ruimsig in 2013.

Earlier this month the court postponed Ndlovu’s sentencing after defence attorney Piet du Plessis told magistrate John Baloyi that he had received the remainder of the court transcript only that day.
