Sundowns had the first shot on goal in the third minute when Tebogo Langerman unleashed a powerful 20-yard shot, but Darren Keet made a fine save low to his right.

The next effort on goal only came in the 18th minute when Sibusiso Vilakazi broke down the right flank and squared for Thapelo Morena, but he was superbly denied from close range by the Wits goalkeeper.

Wits first attempt on goal only came in the 28th minute when Bokang Tlhone found himself in space just inside the box, but he fired into the side netting with just the keeper to beat.

Ten minutes later, Vilakazi came closest to finding the back of the net when his 25-yard thunderbolt struck the top side of the Wits crossbar and went out for a goal-kick.

Neither team could break the deadlock as the half ended all-square.

The second half started a little slowly, but the match sprang into action in the 58th minute when Hlompho Kekana spotted Keet off his line and tried to chip him from 65-yards out, but the ball sailed over the target.

Four minutes later, Sundowns did take the lead when a low left-wing cross from Percy Tau was superbly tucked home by Billiat from a couple of yards out, 1-0.

In the 79th minute, Vilakazi should have put the result beyond doubt when Kekana put him through on goal, but he was superbly denied by Keet in a one-on-one situation.

Three minutes later Sundowns did find their second goal when Kekana once again provided a great through ball, this time for Billiat to run onto and he made no mistake from 14-yards out, 2-0.

Wits tried to find some consolation in the dying minutes of the match, but in the end it was comfortable 2-0 win for the Brazilians.
