It was revealed earlier today on the Soccer Laduma website that Kabelo Mahlasela had not returned to Celtic as the team reassembled for the second half of the 2017/18 season, and that his move to Naturena was on the cards.

Mahlasela’s contract at Celtic is set to expire at the end of the current campaign and while the Free State-based side have attempted to tie the 26-year-old down on a new deal, they have been unsuccessful.

The attacking midfielder has been linked with Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns over the past few months, and while his move to Gauteng seemed inevitable, indications are that Chiefs are poised to sign the talented star.

According to Siya sources, Celtic and Chiefs have agreed to a deal in principle and if all goes according to plan, Mahlasela will be sporting the Amakhosi jersey as from this month. The crew has been informed that the parties involved are locked in negotiations and and they are confident that an agreement will be reached.

Celtic would have seen the player leave on a free at the end of the season, however with a move set to be concluded this month, it is believed that the club is wanting to secure a cut-price transfer fee and avoid losing him on a free all together.
