Willard Katsande’s Mother passed away.
Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Willard Katsande, is a doubt for this weekend’s encounter with Bloemfontein Celtic following the passing of his mother.
The 32-year-old confirmed the sad news on his social media account earlier this week, and it appears that he may well miss the game against Siwelele as he mourns her passing.
Katsande, who underwent facial surgery earlier this month, lost his father 22 years ago, and paid a heartfelt tribute to his mother by saying on his Twitter account, “I guess now it’s time to enjoy your new life with dad. He’s been waiting for you for the past 22 years. Please don’t forget us, always protect and guide us, pass my regards to dad and tell him I’m doing well.”
The club responded to the sad news in a statement on their official website, saying, “The Kaizer Chiefs Family is mourning the passing of Willard Katsande’s mother, Gladys Magorosi, and Siphiwe Tshabalala’s grandmother, Francina Motaung. Illness was the cause in both cases.
“Executive Chairman Kaizer Motaung has on behalf of Kaizer Chiefs expressed his deepest heartfelt condolences to Willard and Siphiwe for their loss.
“We share this sad period with the two players and our prayers go to the bereaved families and friends. Amakhosi are a Family and we celebrate and cry together as one.”
Chiefs face Celtic on Saturday night at 20h15, and it seems unlikely that Katsande will be present.
