Kaizer Chiefs stalwart, Willard Katsande, is a doubt for this weekend’s Soweto Derby, with the midfielder mourning the loss of his mother last week.
Katsande has missed just 18 Absa Premiership games over the past six seasons since the start of the 2012/13 campaign but was absent against Bloemfontein Celtic over the weekend following his family tragedy.
Now, with a crucial clash against Orlando Pirates approaching, the Siya crew has been informed that the 31-year-old has not been in training so far this week, and it appears that he may not be ready to play in the upcoming derby.
Chiefs have only won two games that Katsande has missed since the start of the 2015/16 season and again failed to make their count last weekend as they squandered an opportunity to close the gap on Mamelodi Sundowns.
It remains to be seen when Katsande will return to training, or if he will feature at FNB Stadium, although that will be up to Steve Komphela to judge depending on the upcoming timeline of events.
