Steve Komphela has attracted an interested suitor in the Premier Soccer League.
The 50-year-old head coach stepped down from the helm of Kaizer Chiefs at the weekend, after almost three seasons at the club, unfortunately, unable to clinch any domestic silverware with the team.
However, the crew has been informed that Komphela’s name has been mentioned as a possible candidate to take over the head coach role at SuperSport United.
The Matsatsantsa side is currently fighting for survival at the bottom of the Absa Premiership league standings, where they could find themselves having to go through to the relegation play-offs should they be unable to clinch maximum points in their upcoming encounters.
Eric Tinkler stepped down as coach of the team in March this year, leaving interim head coach, Kaitano Tembu to take charge of the side until the end of the season.
Indications are that management has been in discussions about a new head coach to take over the vacant role and Komphela’s name has been mentioned as one of the options, with the mentor currently a free agent.
It remains to be seen whether SuperSport will approach Komphela in the coming weeks.
