Benni McCarthy slams Zungu’s “disrespectful” comments


Cape Town – Cape Town City head coach Benni McCarthyhas slammed Bongani Zungu’s for comments he made claiming Rhulani Mokwena was the “real boss” at Orlando Pirates.

Zungu in a series of tweets claimed that assistant coach, Mokwena, is the master-mind behind the scenes at the Buccaneers. After footage showed him dismissing head coach Milutin Sredojevic on the side-line.

Pirates ran out 2-1 winners over Polokwane City at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday evening, to claim top spot in the Absa Premiership standings.

McCarthy responded to the 26-year-old Amiens attacker on Twitter, by calling his comments disrespectful to both Mamelodi Sundowns head coach, Pitso Mosimane and Sredojevic.

TV footage captured Mokwena dismissing Sredojevic as Pirates looked to make an immediate substitution.

The former Sundowns attacker, who worked under Mokwena during their time together at the club claimed that his former mentor was the actual brains behind both club’s success.

In since deleted tweets, Zungu said: “Coach Rhulani has made Pirates a top team again! @coach_rulani you the boss.”
