Ernst Middendorp admits that it’s painful to see players like Lebogang Manyama sidelined for Kaizer Chiefs, and has lodged a question to the Amakhosi faithful.
The Glamour Boys remain seventh in the Absa Premiership after 24 games – their worst position at this stage of a campaign since 2008/08 – but are currently on a six-game unbeaten run in all competitions and still have a shot at winning the Nedbank Cup this season.
A 1-1 draw with SuperSport United on Friday night hindered both sides in their quest to remain in the league title race, and the German admitted that he was unhappy despite Khama Billiat’s long-range effort seeing them fight back from behind to claim a point.
When asked whether he was happy with certain elements that have been improved upon since his arrival, Middendorp told SuperSport TV, “Please ask that question on social media to the fans if they see the same game like in November, October, September, August, July… They will probably tell you.”
He went on to say, “We have new players in, still some players are not at 100% level where they could and should be. We have players sitting outside.
“It’s very painful to see everyday a player like Lebogang Manyama not available for us and so on, but that’s not an excuse – despite that we should have won this game.”
Next up for Chiefs is a must-win clash with Cape Town City after the upcoming international break, with the two clubs battling it out for a place in the Nedbank semifinals.
