Bafana Bafana star, Percy Tau, has started training with a Premier Soccer League side after returning from Belgium as he gets himself ready for this month’s crunch clash with Libya.
It has been confirmed to the Siya crew that Tau has started training with Shakes Mashaba’s Witbank Spurs – a club where he spent a successful loan spell during his youth – as he looks to keep fit before travelling to Tunisia for Bafana’s African Cup of Nations decider.
The crew recently reported that Stuart Baxter had been in contact with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise and their head coach, Luka Elsner, to reach a compromise involving the young star that meant he would not have to catch numerous long-haul flights this month.
RUSG played their final game of the regular season on March 3, and are now waiting for their UEFA Europa League play-offs get underway after the international break, and rather than fly back and forth it was agreed that the 24-year-old would remain in South Africa before reporting for international duty.
Tau has been training with the National First Division side for the last day or so in the build-up to this week’s Bafana camp, and will then report for duty on March 16 alongside his Absa Premiership-based compatriots.
