Stuart Baxter will be waiting with bated breath after Percy Tau was missing

Stuart Baxter will be waiting with bated breath after Percy Tau was missing from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise’s squad for their win yesterday evening, and it’s not good news.
The talented attacker, who turned 25 this week, scored a brace over the weekend before having to be replaced due to a knee injury, although he was reportedly seen walking without discomfort after their 3-3 draw with Royal Excel Mouscron.
Luka Elsner, Tau’s head coach at RUSG, then decided to leave the Bafana Bafana international out of his side completely for last night’s encounter with KV Kortrijk, a game that they went on to win 2-0.
Speaking to the club’s official website prior the match, Elsner said, “His knee requires a thorough examination, and his presence against Kortrijk is more than compromised…”
Tau is likely to find out more about the extent of his injury in the coming days, and Baxter and fans around South Africa will no doubt be hoping for good news ahead of the upcoming African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
It remains to be seen whether Tau will get the chance to play in RUSG’s final game of the season with Zulte-Waregem on Friday night where they have chance to top the table if results go their way.
Tau has just over a month to get himself fit before Bafana take on the Ivory Coast in their AFCON opener where he’ll be itching to make his debut in Africa’s biggest tournament.
