Kaizer Chiefs Gave Up On The Absa Premiership

How could a team on top of the log with almost no injuries and you are chasing for the title, lose points or share points with Stellenbosch ? On sunday 08/23 Kaizer Chiefs drew with Stellenbosch 1 -1. The game they lost 3 -1 was also embarrassing Celtic beat them 3 -1 , Bidvest Wits 1 – 1 Kaizer Chiefs , Kaizer Chiefs 0 – 1 Amazulu and Kaizer Chiefs 1 – 2 Maritzburg United.

If Kaizer Chiefs managed to beat AmaZulu , Maritzburg and Stellenbosch by now everything was going to be fine for them. But now they have more stress and they have made Sundowns to believe that they can claim the cup also. Chiefs have more difficult remaining games than Sundowns.

Absa Premiership Starting XI : Bidvest Wits vs Kaizer Chiefs

“You are right when you are saying [there were] two right-backs and two left-backs, yes. I had to double up [Tebogo] Langerman with Lyle [Lakay], which are my two left-backs, and one is a winger but you know I convert them,” explained Mosimane after the game.

“And I had to double up Anele [Ngcongca] with Lebohang Maboe because we were under pressure and the balls were launched from the sides. And if you play Kaizer Chiefs, you don’t look at the diagonal balls they play behind.

“Thank God Nurkovic and Castro were not playing, but that’s their plan and that’s the way they play – they play with diagonal balls that are played behind, and if you don’t deal with that you’ll be in trouble.

“So we didn’t want the crosses to come but they still did, and we then closed the sides so that the crosses must not come easier, and you respond to what the question is.

“If they put four or three strikers, what do you think I should do? Play modest and not put three or four centre-backs? The question is, I’ve got people playing in the heart of my defence – four black jerseys there, so we respond [with more defenders].

“It’s not about what I want, to play modest, it’s about what is the question. Obviously they wanted to win, they needed to equalise of course, and they were putting a lot of pressure on us, so we have to respond to what the question is.

“We can play modest and say, ‘No, we don’t put people there at the back.’ Oh, but they’ve got three people as strikers, so what am I going to do? And they pushed Mathoho up front, so I have to respond.”

“There is more stress and there is more pressure for everybody, for us and for Chiefs,” Mosimane said after his side’s victory at Orlando Stadium.

“Chiefs have stress against Wits. We have stress against Baroka.

“So we have been in this game for long and my players have been in this [before]. We have been in [CAF] Champions League.

“We have to respond. We have the right mentality for this and we have been going for the championship for last six to seven years, so we have the culture and we have the mentality. We know what to do.

“Are we playing very well? No. Are we looking like Mamelodi Sundowns? No. But do we want to fight for the title? Yes. So we have to do what we need to do to win the title and there’s no need to show that we can play better.

“It’s time to win the championship.”

Whom do you think is going to take the psl ?
