The sad part is that when they leave Kaizer Chiefs there is no guarantee that they will be given game time at the new club they are joining . This strategy is really bad for players because they getting older each and everyday , you cannot just buy a player and bench him . The best example is George Lebese who was signed by Pitso and then spent most of his time on the bench , currently playing for Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC in the USL Championship.
Kaizer Chiefs is being hurt in a situation like this , imagine having a player whom you think you going to extend his contract then you find out that he signed a pre-contract with another team and he rejects all the offers you are giving to him .
Kaizer Chiefs Official website reported that ” The contract talks between Kaizer Chiefs and midfielder George ‘Mido’ Maluleka have reached an unexpected ending.”
The statement continued
“Kaizer Chiefs offered the 31-year-old a two-year contract extension + one-year option to renew on his current contract, but he turned it down.”
“Following a string of negotiations, the player himself revealed to the Club that he has signed a pre-contract with Mamelodi Sundowns.”
Junior Khanye said “Sundowns have hurt Chiefs big time with the signing of George. That’s a huge blow! But I want to believe that they haven’t signed him to play (regularly), they are disturbing Chiefs.”
