Former Orlando Pirates Player Sangweni Faces Hardship as Car Gets Repossessed.
Former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns Player Thamsanqa Sangweni Seeks Redemption Through Humble Apology
Seeking a fresh start, Thamsanqa Sangweni, once a notable presence in the soccer arena, now confronts his past ill-discipline with remorse and a plea for forgiveness.
Yearning for a Second Chance
With a heartfelt plea titled “Thamsanqa Sangweni Pleads for a Second Chance,” the midfielder, hailing from KwaZulu-Natal and brother to the former Bucs star Siyabonga “Ntsimbi” Sangweni, turned to social media to humbly request the South African football community for another opportunity to reignite his career.
In his words, “To every PSL team and coach, I’d like to take this opportunity to ask for your help to get another chance. I’m still active. I made a lot of mistakes along the way in my career, and I learned the hard way. The mistakes that made me lose my job, the mistakes that made no one want to have me on their teams. I blame only myself because I’m the one who messed up everything. I am here asking for forgiveness and the chance to play football again. Football is my life, it is the only thing that I know and I want to do,” Sangweni expressed.
A Rocky Path
Sangweni’s most recent engagement in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) was during the 2019/2020 season with Maritzburg United. The club faced relegation to the ABC Motsepe League in the subsequent season. In February 2022, he embarked on a journey with Eastern Cape-based BCM Stars, followed by his shift to provincial rival Peacemakers FC in December.
Regret and Redemption
With hindsight, Sangweni acknowledges the path he once took was one marred by selfishness and lack of discipline. Reflecting on his journey, he expressed, “I was selfish because I ended up losing everything that I love. I am no longer that person, those mistakes made me a better man and they made me realize what it means to be a professional footballer.”
Facing Losses
Traversing the road to transformation, Sangweni revealed the challenges he currently faces. Notably, his car was reportedly repossessed, symbolizing a tangible loss amidst his personal journey. A source disclosed, “He is very humble now, the girlfriends that he used to have are no longer there and the maroon BMW X6 was repossessed.”
Sangweni’s return to his roots in kwaMthethwa Village, located outside Empangeni in KZN, marks a pivotal chapter in his pursuit of redemption and revival within the world of soccer.
What is car repossession?
Car repossession refers to the legal process by which a creditor or lender takes back possession of a vehicle from a borrower who has failed to meet the terms of their loan or lease agreement. When an individual purchases a car through financing or leasing, they typically enter into an agreement with a lender or financing company. This agreement specifies the terms of repayment, including the monthly payments, interest rate, and duration of the loan or lease.
If the borrower consistently fails to make the required payments as agreed upon in the contract, the lender has the legal right to repossess the vehicle. This means they can take back the car, usually with the help of a repossession agent, and sell it to recover the remaining balance of the loan. Repossession laws and procedures vary by jurisdiction, but lenders generally must follow certain legal processes and provide notice to the borrower before repossessing the vehicle.

Once the vehicle is repossessed, it may be sold at auction or through other means to recoup the outstanding debt. If the sale of the vehicle doesn’t cover the entire remaining debt, the borrower may still be responsible for paying the difference, known as a deficiency balance.
Car repossession can have significant financial and credit consequences for the borrower, including a negative impact on their credit score, making it harder to secure credit in the future.
