Itumeleng Khune killed Brilliant Khuzwayo’s career ? According to Wikipedia “Khuzwayo joined AmaZulu from Durban Warriors in 2010. He made his debut on 22 September 2010 against Platinum Stars in a 2–2 draw. Khuzwayo played two more league games to finish with a total of 3. He was loaned to National First Division club Thanda Royal Zulu. Khuzwayo joined Chiefs at the end of the 2011–12 season signing a three-year contract which was finalised on 24 May 2012. On 23 May 2012, the day before Khuzwayo signed, AmaZulu general manager Peter O’Connor suggested it was in the player’s best interest that the club agreed to let him join Chiefs. “Seeing that Tapuwa Kapini has another three years with us, it was agreed that we would release ‘Casillas’ [Khuzwayo] because he wouldn’t be playing as the first-choice goalkeeper. So to enable him to get more game-time we have decided to allow him to join Chiefs after they had approached us for his services,” He made his debut on 28 April 2013 against Platinum Stars at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. The match was billed as the title decider but ended 0–0. He won the league and cup double with Chiefs. In the 2013–14 season he played four matches. ”
Who is the best goal keeper ever in football?
Lev YashinLev Yashin is widely recognized as the greatest goalkeeper of all time. From 1950 to 1970 he only played for one team, Dynamo Moscow, who he guided to 5 league titles and 3 domestic cups.
After the above history now you can see a player who was nicknamed “Casillas” ended up playing only four games in 2013–14 season. So since Brilliant Khuzwayo was “Casillas” then Itumeleng Khune was “Lev YashinLev” .
When Khuzwayo opted for the glitzy lights of Pirates it showed his ambition. He is your typical modern day player who understands that the career lifespan of a goalkeeper is short and fragile. Money makes the world goes round and what better time to rake in most at your prime? I’m not sure if he mentioned going over to Pirates to “help” the Orlando side but he definitely went there to face “lesser” challenge and try to solidify his star goalkeeper status.
By doing this at a time where he should fight to be the best in a team of stars, it kinda lessen his credibility as a player capable of changing a game. And life has its way of turning tables. Khuzwayo retired due to injury in July 2019, aged 29 and having never represented Orlando Pirates in a league match.
How did Itumeleng Khune killed Brilliant Khuzwayo’s career?
Khune was too good to be replaced by Khuzwayo , so we should not blame Khune we should blame Khuzwayo for not
leaving Kaizer Chiefs when there was still time for him to shine .
Do you think Khuzwayo was going to be a greater goalkeeper if he was at Pirates ?
