Kaizer Chiefs’ Injury Update: Trio Makes a Comeback in Friendly Match.

Kaizer Chiefs Find Relief as Injured Players Return for Upcoming Challenges

The international break has arrived as a timely respite for Kaizer Chiefs, signaling a potential easing of their injury concerns. The start of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season had seen the club contend with the absence of several key players.

Injury Woes: As the new season unfolded, the likes of Keagan Dolly, Edmilson Dove, Bontle Molefe, and Ranga Chivaviro were conspicuous by their absence. Injuries had sidelined these players, while Nkosingiphile Ngcobo had also faced limitations due to an injury concern.

Coach’s Optimism: Kaizer Chiefs’ head coach, Molefi Ntseki, expressed his optimism about the situation. He stated his belief that the club would have a complete and healthy squad following the international break.

“Hopefully, when we return from the FIFA week, we’ll have a full squad, and all the players will be available,” Ntseki remarked recently.

Positive Developments: Among the injured players, Edmilson Dove had made significant progress in his recovery. Coach Ntseki confirmed that Dove had resumed training in the week leading up to the Stellenbosch FC match on August 30, 2023.

In a friendly match against Tuks on September 8, 2023, Kaizer Chiefs saw Keagan Dolly, Ranga Chivaviro, and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo return to the pitch. The match concluded with a 2-2 draw, signifying their gradual return to contention for selection.

International Prospects: In addition to their domestic recovery, there were promising developments on the international front. A Mozambican journalist confirmed that Edmilson Dove was likely to participate in the crucial AFCON qualifier against Benin. The Mozambique national team needed a draw to maintain their AFCON campaign’s momentum.

Future Prospects: The return of these players is a welcome boost for Kaizer Chiefs, who currently occupy fifth place in the DStv Premiership standings. Dolly and Chivaviro’s return is anticipated to bolster the team’s attacking capabilities, reducing the pressure on newly signed Colombian striker Jasond González. Additionally, Dove’s availability provides valuable defensive options, given his versatility as a left center-back and fullback. Ngcobo is eager to elevate his performance in the upcoming season.

As the team prepares for their next match against Royal AM next Saturday, Coach Ntseki may be tempted to reintroduce these players to the lineup, offering fresh possibilities and renewed optimism for Kaizer Chiefs.
