Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has addressed the criticism aimed at him by former club legends Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney. Speaking after a difficult start to the season, Amorim admitted that the pressure is part of the job and that he cannot hide from results.

“It’s normal,” Amorim said when asked about the pundits’ opinions. “You cannot run away from the results, and of course there is baggage from last season. But last season doesn’t matter anymore. What matters is now. We’ve had six games this season and lost three, so naturally the criticism comes.”

The Portuguese coach has been under the spotlight since taking charge at Old Trafford, with questions raised about his system and whether the squad has adapted fully to his philosophy. While Neville and Rooney have both voiced their concerns about United’s direction, Amorim believes the focus should be on improving performance rather than looking back.

Amorim has consistently defended his tactical approach, saying that defeats are not solely about formations but about execution and consistency. His message is clear: the club cannot afford to dwell on the past. Instead, the team must build momentum, find rhythm, and turn performances into victories.

With pressure mounting and fans demanding results, the next fixtures will be crucial for Amorim. Manchester United remain a club where expectations are always high, and he knows that only winning matches will silence his critics. For now, he insists that the focus is on progress, not panic.
