Antony: Manchester United winger dropped by Brazil following abuse allegations
Amid abuse allegations from his former girlfriend, Antony, the Manchester United winger, has been excluded from the Brazil squad.

The accusations were reported by the Brazilian news outlet UOL, with Sao Paulo and Greater Manchester police currently looking into the claims, which Antony has vehemently denied.
In a social media statement, Antony asserted his innocence, stating, “I can confidently say that the allegations are untrue, and the evidence already presented and forthcoming will prove my innocence. I trust that the ongoing police investigations will reveal the truth.”
The allegations involve an incident in which Antony’s ex-partner, Gabriela Cavallin, claims he assaulted her with a headbutt in a Manchester hotel room on January 15, resulting in a head injury that required medical attention. Additionally, she alleges she was punched in the chest, causing damage to a silicone breast implant that necessitated corrective surgery.
Antony acknowledged the turbulent nature of his past relationship but firmly denied any physical aggression in his statement. He had previously released a statement in June, asserting that he had been falsely accused of domestic violence by his former girlfriend.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) is actively investigating the allegations and has not provided further comments at this time.
Manchester United declined to comment on the situation when approached by BBC Sport.
These allegations follow the recent announcement by the Premier League club that Mason Greenwood, a forward, would depart by mutual consent after a six-month internal inquiry. Greenwood had faced charges, including rape and assault, which were subsequently dropped in February. He has since joined Spanish side Getafe on loan.
Antony’s absence from the Brazil squad has led to Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus being named as his replacement for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Peru.
