Sergio Ramos, the former Spain defender, has returned to his childhood club, Sevilla, after an 18-year absence. This move comes after departing from Paris St-Germain on a free transfer, and he has inked a one-year contract.
“It’s an incredibly special day; coming back home always brings immense joy,” expressed Ramos, who rejoins Sevilla with the club currently at the bottom of La Liga. “I’m delighted to return and make a quick contribution, which is the primary goal.”
During his illustrious career, Ramos achieved a World Cup and two European Championships with the Spanish national team, amassing a record 180 caps over 16 years. Additionally, he secured four Champions League titles with Real Madrid.
Raised on the outskirts of Seville, Ramos entered the club’s academy at the age of seven, making 50 appearances across all competitions before making the move to Real Madrid in 2005.
Ramos enjoyed 16 seasons in the Spanish capital, accumulating 671 appearances and clinching 22 trophies, including five La Liga titles alongside his European triumphs.
Following the expiration of his contract with Real in 2021, he joined PSG for two seasons, where he secured consecutive league titles.
