Kaizer Chiefs vs Royal Am starting lineup today.
Kaizer Chiefs have made significant changes to their squad during this transfer window. They have bid farewell to nine players, including Phathutshedzo Nange, Thabani Dube, Erick Mathoho, Siyabonga Ngezana, Khama Billiat, Kgaogelo Sekgota, Cole Alexander, Caleb Bimenyimana, and now, Kamohelo Mahlatsi.
In return, the club has brought in new talent, including Edson Castillo, Given Msimango, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Pule Mmodi, Tebogo Potsane, Jasond González, Mduduzi Mdantsane, and Ranga Chivaviro.
Kamohelo Mahlatsi, a 25-year-old midfielder, has mutually agreed to part ways with Kaizer Chiefs. He had joined the team from Swallows FC at the beginning of the 2022/23 season on a three-year deal, alongside Dillan Solomons and George Matlou after Arthur Zwane took over as head coach.
Mahlatsi’s time at Chiefs was marked by limited appearances, totaling just seven games last season due to various factors, including injuries. He hasn’t featured for the club in the current season under coach Molefi Ntseki. Chiefs and Mahlatsi have decided to terminate their relationship, even with the transfer window still open; it closes on September 22, 2023.
Mahlatsi, who has previously played for SuperSport United, Swallows, and AmaTuks, is expected to explore opportunities with other clubs in the coming days. His versatility as a winger and central midfielder makes him an attractive prospect for potential suitors.
On another note, 20-year-old Donay Jansen appears to be a promising replacement for Mahlatsi. Kaizer Chiefs have a tradition of nurturing talent from their academy, and Jansen has been knocking on the first-team door with impressive performances in the DStv Diski Challenge. He recently scored 12 goals in the DDC last season and opened his account for the current season with a goal in the 1-1 draw against Orlando Pirates on Sunday.
