Mohamed Bazoum sworn in as president for Niger. There was a coup which failed.

Mr Bazoum succeeds Mahamadou Issoufou, has stepped down after a 10 years in power. This country has a big problem of a deadly Islamist insurgency in the west of the country.

The new president has a lot of work to do for the country and I don’t believe he will fix a lot in his first 4 years. African states are very diffrent and things are always complicated due to a unique political system.
