THE MUCH-ANTICIPATED friendly international between Bafana Bafana and Zambia has been called off!

This is due to on-going attacks on foreign nationals in the country, the Zambia FA has confirmed.

“The Zambia Football Association regrets to inform the public that the match between Bafana and Chipololo, scheduled for Heroes Stadium on Saturday, has been called-off due to the prevailing security concerns in South Africa,” read the statement from the Zambia FA.

Safa head of communications Dominic Chimhavi has confirmed the developments, saying “We have just received correspondence from Zambia saying they have cancelled the game because of the on-going attacks on foreign nationals.

“We understand where they are coming from. There is nothing can we do. What I can say is that we are frantically looking for a new opponent.”

The association has had difficulty finding an opponent for the Fifa match day.
